1. Scope

This policy applies to the Ask Why, Guys website at askwhyguys.com and the forms, investigation pages, embedded media, and audience-participation features offered there. Under Ellum’s separate business services and client systems are governed by the policies applicable to those services.

2. Information we receive

Information you submit

We receive information you choose to provide through contact, video-idea, or moderated-comment forms. Depending on the form, this may include your name, reply address, question, comment, source link, or message.

Technical and aggregate information

Hosting, security, analytics, embedded-media, and search services may process ordinary technical information such as page addresses, timestamps, browser or device information, referring pages, approximate location derived from network information, IP addresses, and security events. Cloudflare Web Analytics is configured to provide aggregate site statistics and is not intended to identify individual visitors. Google Search Console provides aggregate information about how pages appear in Google Search.

3. How information is used

Information may be used to respond to messages, evaluate investigation ideas, review sources, moderate discussion, publish approved comments, operate and secure the site, understand aggregate audience activity, correct errors, and improve future investigations and site features.

A comment’s submitted display name and approved text may be published. A reply address is used for communication or moderation and is not intentionally published.

4. Service providers and embedded media

Netlify hosts the site and processes form submissions. Cloudflare provides aggregate web analytics. Google provides Search Console and YouTube. Embedded videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain where available; playing or interacting with a video may still allow Google or YouTube to receive technical information under their own policies.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or secure the site.

5. Questions, comments, and editorial submissions

Do not submit passwords, authentication codes, financial-account information, medical records, government identification numbers, confidential business information, or other sensitive personal information. Submitting a story idea does not create a confidential, professional, employment, or payment relationship.

6. Retention and your choices

Information is retained only as long as reasonably useful for communication, editorial planning, moderation, security, dispute resolution, legal obligations, or legitimate business records. Retention needs may differ by category.

You may request access, correction, or deletion of information you submitted by using the protected contact form on the homepage. Please provide enough context for us to identify the relevant submission without sending sensitive information.

7. Security and children

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for the information and services involved, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes and contact

This policy may be updated as the site, providers, or information practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Questions or privacy requests should be sent through the protected contact form on the Ask Why, Guys homepage so no destination email address is exposed publicly.
